What’s Not Covered by Aviva Health Insurance

Like most health insurance policies, Aviva medical insurance doesn’t cover pre-existing health conditions, so you already have conditions you already have when taking out a policy.

However, if after two years of taking out a policy, you haven’t required medication, treatment, diagnostic tests or advice for the condition, the exclusion is usually lifted.

Aviva private health insurance also doesn’t cover chronic conditions. This refers to a disease, illness or injury that needs ongoing or long-term care. Examples of chronic conditions are arthritis, epilepsy, and asthma.
Treatment for pregnancy and childbirth are also not included, but related conditions that can happen outside of pregnancy and childbirth are.

Cost

Aviva’s private healthcare insurance, like most other providers can be expensive and therefore not suitable for some budgets. However, it's worth remembering that one of the standout features of Aviva’s healthcare insurance is its flexibility. The modular design allows you to customise your cover based on your budget. This means you can adjust your level of cover to ensure you only pay for what you truly need while still enjoying comprehensive health benefits.

Some Pre-Existing Conditions May Not Be Covered

All insurance policies have exclusions and limitations, so make sure you check the policy documents carefully before committing to Aviva medical insurance. This is especially important if you have a pre-existing condition or need a particular treatment.
